On a soggy and overcast Saturday, the DCB football team
snapped a 2 game losing streak with a dominating 38-13 victory over Minnesota
West Community and Technical College at Les Christian Field in Bottineau.
The Lumberjacks jumped up early with an impressive first drive, then tacked on
another touchdown and a safety to lead 18-0 at halftime. DCB upped the
lead to 24-0 on a Jacob Clair punt return and extended the lead to 38-6 before
a late Mn West touchdown accounted for the final margin. It was a good
day on both sides of the football as the Lumberjacks ran a balanced offense,
finishing with 188 passing and 181 rushing yards while holding Minnesota West
to 153 total yards, most of that coming after the game was no longer in doubt.
With the win, DCB improves to 2-3 and gets ready for a visit
by the North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday, October 1st.
The Wildcats and Jacks will battle once again for the “Lumbercat” trophy with
the teams having split the past 4 meetings. Game time Saturday is 2:00 PM
at Les Christian Field in Bottineau.
